Hippo explores the coming of age of two cousins: Hippo, a teenager addicted to video games, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a passion for classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by her brother, who prefers to indulge in the arts of war and chaos. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled waking nightmare that has to be seen to be believed.
