Scenario

A two-hour window into the heart of Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process, the documentary follows six long years of work on The Boy and the Heron, the master of Japanese animation’s last film. It was a very touching and funny documentary. Kaku Arakawa gets the opportunity to carefully follow the creative process of Hayao Miyazaki during the creation of “The Boy and the Heron”. It perfectly combines walls from Miyazaki’s films and real people involved in the making of the film, and people who are/were important to Miyazaki. I saw this film at the Helsinki International Film Festival “Love and Anarchy”. Some moments made the audience laugh out loud, and at some moments people wiped their lines. I hope that Miyazaki will be able to make more films. I cannot help but recommend this documentary to any Studio Ghibli fan.
